Artist's Comments

This is my artwork designed as a spoof of "The Superfriends." It features several characters and mascots from the insurance industry.

From Left to Right, there's Snoopy from Charles Schultz's "Peanuts" Comic Strip. Snoopy was used in ads for "MetLife." Next to him is the caveman from GEICO ads (the guys who get offended by the ad "so easy a caveman could do it). In the middle is "The Mysterious Stranger" from the Esurance ads. He was really hard to do, given that there are so few saved artworks with him in it, and most of them are blurry. He has no name, but I'd call him "Ed," given that he looks like a good Everyman. Flanking him is the delectable "Erin Esurance" with her pink hair and black catsuit. Next to her is the loveable duck who always screams "AFLAC!" Next to the duck is the "gecko" with the British accent from GEICO ads. Behind them is the classic Elk or stag from Hartford Insurance, probably the least recognizeable to today's young-uns, but I didn't have many options.

For the past few months, I had told my wife that they ought to create a show like this with these commercial characters. Then I learned that the GEICO cavemen were getting their own sitcom this Fall, so I thought I'd beat them to the punch.

Let me know what you think! This could be a fun series to design.

That's a good idea! I never thought about it from that angle. I did like the Jerry Seinfeld and Superman commercial though.

I have a feeling that these folks might be called in if a chunk of kryptonite were to crash into the Hall of Justice.

They could keep a souvenir...a piece of the rock, as it were....

Yes! And, the room I've used to store these old commercials hasn't seemed to have damaged my ability to take in new information. (I've tried my best, dammit! ...Heh heh.)

It would be nice if we could pick and choose which memories or trivia to delete.
