On my gift list is The Purple Airedale ([link]). Here's one of her favorite characters, Ruth Powers, defending her little Laura Powers from the bad guys...angry townspeople who want to pick on Ruth in The Simpsons world.

Ruth is featured in a Simpsons episode or two (voice by Pamela Reed). In one, she's in a Thelma and Louise story with Marge. In another, Bart romantically pursues her daughter (voiced by Sara Gilbert). Maybe it was the same episode.

PS: I got the idea from a kids book about pioneer days, with some caption like "Pioneer women knew how to shoot." Sorry I messed up the building and all, but we could blame a faulty rural contractor.

Thanks! It was a gift art for the Purple Airedale. I just saw the image in one of my daughter's books that talks about "how pioneer women learned how to shoot" and got inspired.

As a cowgal with Texan blood, you remind me of
Lucas McCain of the RIFLEMAN, played by
CHUCK CONNORS.
Jerry, my hubbie & I watch that everyday on
ENCORE WESTERN channel on our DISH NETWORK set, Jag.

Of course, I am purty handy with a six-gun,
long rifle, bow & arrow...I even hunt for deer!
No daughter of a Texan worth their salt would NOT know how to shoot a gun or use a bow & arrow!

Of course, it helps when your marriage partner
is 1/4 Cherokee Indian and learnt how from
his full-blooded Cherokee grandma!

I was actually thinking exactly of Chuck Conners when I named this. He was a pretty good ball player too.

As for me, I'm decent with the rifle. Haven't had many opportunities with a pistol. Shot a decoy deer in the nose with a bow and arrow, so that department needs work.
