Blade of Bolivar Chapter 8
Chapter 8: Farewell to Arms
Seated at the long rectangular-shaped table was a man with a mustache and a tan suit. His brown hair and mustache contrasted sharply with the clean-shaven, balding gentleman in the black coat and tie. Wandering over was a third man with white hair and glasses. A dark suit and red tie completed the package. They should be here by now, he said impatiently, checking his watch for the third time.
Dr. Jones is a reliable man, the balding individual insisted, not even looking up from his book on Russian history. Hell be here soon.
Our government demands results, said the mustachioed man in the tan results.
The reader put down his book. Archaeology is not an exact science. These things take time. Youll get the results you deserve in due time.
As if on cue, a tall individual strode into the room, his fedora h

Chapter 7: In Trouble on Mount Irazu
If one made their way up to the volcano Irazu that towers over the town of Cartago on that particular day, they would have thought of a world before the arrival of the Spaniards. Several individuals were dressed in Indian garb, while two figures were bound to a pole. Closer to the crater, a winch and metal cage contained a third figure immobilized inside.
So what do you hope to accomplish with this silly little charade? Velma chastised the man staring at her with a leering expression.
My dear, your little sacrifice is what we need to conjure the true power of the Aztecs and Incas Cepeda announced. See, Dr. Dinkley he taunted the girl with glasses, who had been changed to a ceremonial dress, I know my Anthropology too.
The mustachioed man glanced over at his own young female companion. Actually, it was Miss Lane, whose knowledge of local customs and hist

Chapter 6: Morenos Three Mysteries
As the gang marched down the stone steps, the torches they brought provided just enough illumination for the group members to see their way down. There was barely enough room for a single adventurer to head down the steps, as thick earth flanked them on both sides. Eventually, the stairs ended in a large hall.
Doesnt the floor seem to be moving? Shaggy asked.
It does, Velma observed. Thats because the floor is full of
Snakes, Fred groaned. Why did it have to be snakes? He turned pale, noticeable even with the torchlight. Not again!
Freddie didnt you defeat the asps in our Egyptian adventure Daphne pointed out, trying to cheer him up.
Yeah, with our torches, the famed archaeologist admitted. He tentatively waved his light in front of the snakes. Th

Chapter 5: Cartago Cathedral Caper
As the plane touched down in the Cartago River, Fred was happy to see that their location was not far from the small Costa Rican town that had once served as the nations capital. Though Hidalgo was surprised that the bunch of tourists had their own airplane, he was shocked to learn the identity of the groups pilot. But after a few moments of nervous hesitation at her capabilities, owing to his regions strong sense of machismo, he seemed impressed at her flying abilities. Though Fred hated to see him putting the moves on the aviatrix he considered his girl, it did give the opportunity for him to plot with Velma in the back of the plane.
So does Cartago have a cathedral? Fred asked to his partner, who had her nose buried in a book about Costa Rica.
Well our new friend Horacio Hidalgo is telling the truth about Cartago being the old capital, Velma reluc

Chapter 4: Operation Cutlass Commences
Despite constant fears of Japanese activity reaching the California shores throughout the year 1943, the trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles over the Pacific Ocean was relatively uneventful. Crossing over the Baja Peninsula, they encountered turbulence, but by the time they landed at the port of Punta Arenas, the sun was shining again. The Costa Rican towns docks were teaming with activity, owing to a heavy demand for Latin American goods which were riskier to ship on the Atlantic side, where Nazi submarines prowled.
As the group struggled to gain their bearings and figure out where to begin the search, a dark figure strode toward the group where the plane was moored. His thick wavy hair and thin glasses were matched by an infectious smile. Velma? Velma Dinkley?
Kit? Velma said incredulously. This was hardly the location to meet an old acquaintance.&

Chapter 3: Talks With Top Men
Top Men? was all that Fred could get out.
I see that introductions are in order, said a new entrant to the room, wearing a black suit and tie. Marcus Brody! Velma exclaimed. Youre Barbera Colleges museum curator. She darted forward to hug him. What are you doing out in San Francisco?
As Brody kissed Daphnes hand, she announced Indys told me lots about you.
Brody beamed in response. As he moved over to shake Freds hand, Daphne whispered to Velma got lost in his own museum once.
Her friend uttered a quiet chuckle. Still, hes an improvement over that traitor Old Man Wickles.
