As a counterpart to "The Insurables," I developed "Legion of the Uninsured." Just as The Insurables is based upon "The Superfriends," the Legion of the Uninsured is based upon the "Legion of Doom," enemies of the Superfriends. From left to right, there's Joe Camel from Camel cigareets, the goat from AFLAC ads which is "something else," often saying "Naahh." Behind the goat is the dancing "Old Gold" box. Then there's "Willie the KOOL Penguin," a character so prevalent (note: not Chilly Willy) that they used him in ads and made him his own comic book. There's also Spuds MacKenzie, the party dog from Bud Light ads. To the right of him is "Ginny," the skinny woman from "Virginia Slims" cigarette ads who tells feminists in ads "You've come a long way baby!" In fact, they even had a Virginia Slims tennis tournament, thus her goony tennis clothes. Finally, there's the famous "Marlboro Man," the he-man of the west who'd smoke cigarettes. I know there are a lot of cigarette characters, but the companies made a lot of them. Plus, it's harder to get insurance if you smoke, as opposed to drinking or other things you could do. So if you're a smoker, nothing personal and just enjoy the humor!

just like the last one this totally takes me back to the 90's, i remember when it was okay for those cigarette companies to put their advertisements on any publication, even if it was for kids, and ironically enough, for a long 5 years, joe camel was there on a bill board advertising right above the neighborhood Toys R Us, which since then the bill board now just advertises barona casino or mini cooper

Good cars get you from point A to point B, great cars get you into trouble..
I remember some study that Joe Camel was more recognizable to 5 year olds than Mickey Mouse in the early 1990s. Then again, Mickey hadn't done any TV shows or movies, so maybe they should've compared him to Scooby or Bugs Bunny or the Simpsons or something still on the air.
Ha! That's a seriously well researched line-up, and a perfect counter-play to the Insurable piece. The guy who said this would make a great comic book idea is right, it's almost like a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen for the advertising industry.
i smoke. but the marlboro man SUUUURE must have high rates!
